Our house is small, about 1200-1300 sq ft. The computer room is the largest bedroom out of three. Why make the master bedroom a computer room you ask? Because my husband works in the film industry doing computer special effects and has So Much Computer Stuff it is the only room big enough to fit it all in. There are computers, monitors and various computer guts strewn all over the room. It is cram packed. All the desks in here are cheap ones from Ikea, the bookshelves are cheap ugly plastic ones meant to go in a garage. I hate, hate HATE this room. I want to gut it and start over. Everyday I have to come in here to use the computer and everyday I dream about what I would do to it if I had the money. I would go with a color scheme similar to this room from 1954:
I don't want an exact match, just something along the line using the dark gray, black and red as the main colors. Though I would use light wood instead of painted gray or white for the furniture. The walls in here are all dark gray which is enough dark color for the room. The Ikea desks would get replaced with cool mid century wood office desks.
This room needs tons of storage. I hate to go to Ikea but I need a huge bookcase and on the cheap. I think this Expedite unit with red pull out baskets would be perfect.
The plain black curtains I threw up last minute would get replaced with these atomic barkcloth ones though I can't decide if I would go with the black ones shown here or the same print with a red background.
I would love to have a small pull out sofa in here so it could also be used as a guest room.
Two paper lanterns on either side of the futon as shown in the picture would be fab.
Of coarse I don't have the budget to do anything right now so I will just have to keep day dreaming about it. Now that I have the basic design idea down I can get to the fun part...buying more vintage nick nacks to decorate with! :D
