Frock on a Friday, 1928 style

I was in the mood for something different then my usual go-to 1950s clothes. I *love* everything about 1920s style but don't wear it often since it doesn't suit my body shape. Then I remembered I had this frock I made last summer using McCall 5014 dated circa 1928.

I love the full gathered skirt on this one. It's muuuuuch more flattering for someone with curves then the usual straight up and down 1920s dresses. Though I did cheat and give this frock darts to flatter my torso rather then the blouson shape the pattern called for. Does anyone really look good in a blouson?

I wore it with my favorite vintage glass pearls, a cheap rhinestone necklace, a feather headband from Forever 21 and a vintage 1920s wrist purse.

Here's a close up of the purse. It's metallic gold brocade with a big rhinestone diamond in the center.

It opens up tri fold and has space for your ID and $$, a mirror and change pouch. Though the original owner used the pouch to store her face powder! It's still full of power. I love this thing though I dare not use it much since it's so old.

With the 1920s in mind I pulled out a 1928 copy of a Bellas Hess catalog I own to get more outfit inspiration. It's full of eye candy. Wanna see?

Happy Weekend!
