A new lamp shade for the kitchen and the celery trick

I recently bought this mid century fiberglass double tier lampshade on Ebay to put on a blah modern lamp we had in the kitchen sitting on top of our mini fridge. It's awesome but it's HUGE! I was so excited to find this for a really cheap buy-it-now price that I hit the trigger before reading the auction description thoroughly.  It was originally on a large floor lamp which explains the bigger than average size, but that's ok. Now I have an excuse to buy a much bigger vintage lamp base to go with it, heh.

To elevate it I stacked some of our favorite cookbooks under it. Yes, that's a copy of the Veganomicon next to a Bobby Flay grilling book.  That's us...the vegetarian and the carnivore.

See this little plant? It's a celery! I found a wonderful post from blogger 17 Apart on how you can re-grow a new plant using the cut off bottom stub of a store bought celery. After learning about this I couldn't wait to try it out. This little guy has been growing there in the window for about a week. Cool huh?

Here is another one a few weeks older we planted in the garden. Once they start growing roots you can plant them in a pot or in the ground. This is such a great discovery, I can't wait to have a whole patch of them so I don't have to buy celery at the store again.
