This was a spur of the moment design I came up with last week. I had a bunch of this pretty light beige cotton jacquard fabric and was itching to make myself something with it. The color reminded me of one of my favorite vintage 50s nightgowns. 50s princess nightgowns are so pretty I always want to wear them as dresses but being sheer and nylon I would never wear them out of the house. So I decided to make a dress version. Here it is!
I had just enough of this peachy tan colored lace trim. It worked out perfect as if was always meant to go with the fabric.
My vintage beige petticoat is a little bit too long but I like the look of it sticking out of the bottom. I wore this dress the other day with my red button up Fluevog granny boots. I love to wear red shoes with pale colors.

Such a pretty gown!! you did a great job!!
so beautiful! Wish I was as talented as you!
Gosh that would be perfect even as a wedding dress xx
Beautiful dress! Such a great idea, and so perfectly executed. I know what you mean about the pretty underwear and nightdresses which can't quite be worn in public - this was a stroke of genius to create the look but make it more appropriate for leaving the house in!
STUNNING!!!
What a wonderful job you've made of it! Loving the leopard one from your last post too!!x
That is absolutely stunning - it's like art. You're very talented. I'm not sure I should be allowed in blogland with my crap level of crafting.
