In the Garden

No outfit post today. I can't be arsed to get dressed up and I have hair dye stained hands and ears. Speaking of, I decided to go for a change and used a darker color on my hair. It's now a lush shade of dark burgundy wine. I love it! But no pictures til tomorrow. Instead, you get pictures of my back garden taken yesterday.

Blueberries! All the ripe ones in the picture were made into muffins yesterday.

Four kinds of basil squished into one big pot.

The coolest flower ever. It looks like fireworks. Can you guess what it is? Hint- it smells like pickles.

Jasmine

The biggest onion flower in the patch.

I love peach roses.

The one and only pumpkin so far this year.

We always do well with zucchini.

A few nights ago we made salsa using only herbs and veggies from the garden. It's such a simple thing to grow your own food but it always makes us happy like kids at Christmas when we are able to cook a whole dish only using what we grew. My next project is to learn how to can. So far we've been freezing everything but we are now running out of space in the freezer. By the end of summer I want a whole pantry full of home grown, home canned soups, sauces and preserves. <3

I had no idea you could grow blueberries in a pot, and that they would grow in out LA climate. I'll definitely have to try that! Your zucchini is amazing (Har..."that's what she said") no, seriously. I wish my zukes would be so prolific. You must have a major green thumb :-)
Thanks for sharing your garden!
