Simplicity 3250 version 2.0 in red gingham

Yesterday I went to Joanns on a mission to buy red and white gingham. My plan was to use it to make the final version of the petal bust dress draft I blogged about last week. Once I had the fabric and pattern laid out I changed my mind. Only a few weeks ago I made this cute Simplicity 3250 pedal pusher and halter top set out of black sateen with black and white striped cotton contrast on the bust. Now that it is getting warmer out I find myself wanting to wear this comfortable outfit everyday! Of coarse I don't, but since I like it that much I have decided to use this pattern  once again only this time using my new stash of red and white gingham.

I had planned to make a tutorial on how I went about altering the seat depth of the pants pattern for a shorter waist torso, but once I started cutting and sewing I couldn't be bothered to stop and take pictures along the way. Sorry! I promise I will make a tutorial soon. The thing I love about 50's pants patterns is that they are always roomy in the thighs. However sometimes you get more room then you need! I ended up taking quite a bit of the leg width since I made shorts instead of the pedal pushers. Since I already used this pattern the rest of the adjustments were a breeze- lower the waist 2", raise the crotch an inch, set the zipper in the back instead of the side and take in the width of the halter top back strap.

I am officially ready for summer now!
