I promised this post a few days ago, I know. My main computers hard drive up and died on me so I had to re-install all the drivers & software I needed to make this post on my laptop. It's a good thing my husband is computer savvy and able to help me out with all that because computer savvy I am NOT, heh. Anyhoo, on with the show!
Here is the pattern I used:
I liked how version 'A' looked so much I decided I wanted mine in green also. I wanted this dress to be an every-day-around-the-house sort of dress so I choose a comfortable cotton in a period correct feedsack print plaid. This print is a few years old made by Blank Textiles.
For contrast I decided to use yellow stitching, yellow buttons and yellow piping. I just love the art deco lines of the center front skirt panel so I decided to add piping it to define it.
I used vintage casien plastic buttons from the 50's.
The only thing I changed from the original pattern is I moved the zipper to the center back. I really prefer to stitck to the original design on vintage patterns but I hate side seam zips. I also shortened the dress quite a bit as the original length hit me almost to my ankles.
Notice the awesome shoes I'm wearing? They are the latest color combo available for this style of Fluevogs, the Q-Tees. Love them! I already have a pair of these in the cherry/black and they were my go-to shoes all last summer. They are SO freakin comfortable. Worth every cent.
I've been wearing this dress paired with this wackydoodle vintage raffia purse and two new to me bakelite bracelets. The darker yellow one is green EOD swirled and has rhinestones! I found that one a few weeks back at a flea market for only $35 bucks which is a steal for carved bakelite.
